Firefox 80.0 was officially released today. One of the biggest new features of this version is that users can set Firefox as the system's default PDF reader.
In Firefox 80, the names reported by accessibility tools for items in multi-level tree controls no longer incorrectly contain information from deeper items, providing users with the correct level of content when using a screen reader.
In addition to the above two new features, Firefox 80 also includes some security patches and fixes:
——Some crash issues encountered when using screen readers, including crashes often encountered when using JAWS screen readers;
- A major fix to the Firefox Developer Tools, allowing screen reader users to use multiple previously inaccessible tools;
- SVG title and desc elements (labels and descriptions) now display correctly on assistive technology products, such as screen readers;
- For users who have lowered motion settings (possibly migraine and epilepsy sufferers), Firefox reduces many animation effects, such as tab loading;
- New add-on blacklist has been enabled to improve performance and flexibility.
