Recently, Huawei officially announced its open source database capabilities, opened up the source code of the openGauss database, and established the openGauss open source community. The official community website was launched simultaneously.
openGauss is an open source relational database management system that deeply integrates Huawei's many years of experience in the database field. We hope to attract more contributors through the charm of open source and jointly build an enterprise-level open source database community that can integrate diverse technical architectures.
The openGauss kernel is derived from PostgreSQL and focuses on continuously building competitive features in the areas of architecture, transactions, storage engines, optimizers, etc. It is deeply optimized on ARM architecture chips and is compatible with the X86 architecture. Achieve the following technical features:
1. Concurrency control technology based on multi-core architecture, NUMA-Aware storage engine, and SQL-Bypass intelligent routing execution technology release the multi-core expansion capability of the processor and achieve 1.5 million tpmC performance in a two-channel Kunpeng 128-core scenario.
2. Support fast fault switching with RTO <10S, full-link data protection, and meet security and reliability requirements.
3. Through intelligent parameter tuning, slow SQL diagnosis, multi-dimensional performance self-monitoring, online SQL time prediction and other capabilities, operation and maintenance can be reduced from complexity to simplicity.
openGauss adopts the Mulan Permissive License (Mulan PSL v2), allowing all community participants to freely modify, use and reference the code. The openGauss community has also established a technical committee, and all developers are welcome to contribute code and documentation.
Huawei has always adhered to the overall development strategy of "open hardware, open source software, and enabling partners", supporting partners to create their own brand of database commercial releases based on openGauss, and supporting partners to continue to build commercial competitiveness.
The openGauss open source database is a key part of basic software. Huawei will continue to invest in the development and operation of the openGauss open source community, and work with global developers and partners to promote the prosperity of the openGauss community.
