Yesterday it was reported that Tencent had acquired a majority stake in Czech game developer Bohemia Interactive studio for US$260 million, holding a 70%-80% stake.
It is now reported that the relevant person in charge of Bohemia Interactive denied the news to the Czech Economic Daily, saying: "This is not true. Tencent did not acquire us, and Bohemia Interactive remains an independent studio."
In addition, in a statement posted on the official forum, Bohemia Interactive CEO Maruk also mentioned that the news of Tencent’s acquisition of the studio is untrue.
IT House learned that Bohemia Interactive is the developer of the military simulation game “Armed Assault” and the zombie survival game “Dayz”. Tencent and Bohemia have already had a cooperative relationship before. In 2018, Tencent collaborated with Bohemia to release the sandbox construction game "Island of Arran" on WeGame.
