For Microsoft, they seem to have never closed the door to allowing some users of older versions of the system to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.
According to foreign media Windowslatest, the original free upgrade offer of Windows 10 has officially expired many years ago, but through their actual testing experience, they found that the free upgrade loophole is still valid today.
Specifically, Win users can download the Media Creation Tool officially provided by Microsoft and select "Upgrade this PC now".
The digital license for Windows 10 will be activated once the upgrade is complete and the device is connected to the Internet. Users can verify activation status by going to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
It’s unclear why Microsoft still retains this free vulnerability in Win10. Perhaps it is still dissatisfied with the 1 billion users that Win10 only achieved three years later.
According to previous third-party statistics, Windows 10's share dropped from 57.34% to 56%, and Windows 7's market share dropped from 26.3% to 25.59%.
