Establish a coordinate system. Open the geometric sketchpad, click the "Drawing" menu above, and select the "Define Coordinate System" command from the pop-up drop-down menu, thus establishing a plane rectangular coordinate system.

          Draw coordinate points. Click the "Draw" menu above, select the "Draw Point" command in the pop-up drop-down menu, and draw points (-5, 0) and (-4, 0) in the pop-up dialog box.

Construct vertical lines. Select the drawn points (-5, 0) and (-4, 0) and the abscissa axis, click the "Construction" menu above, select the "Perpendicular Line" command from its drop-down option, and construct a straight line perpendicular to the abscissa axis.

Construct points K and B and measure their ordinates. Select the vertical line, click the "Construction" menu above, select the "Point on Vertical Line" command from its drop-down menu, and draw points K and B. Select points K and B, click the "Measure" menu above, and select the "ordinate" command from its drop-down menu to measure the ordinates of the two points.

        Plot the graph of the function. Click the "Drawing" menu above, select the "Draw New Function" command in the drop-down menu, enter YK, *, x, +, YB in the pop-up dialog box.                           Create animated buttons.
