What should I do if the UEFI installation of Win8 prompts that the required media driver is missing?

A netizen tried to install the Win8 system in UEFI mode. He made a USB disk installation tool for installation, but during the installation process, it was prompted that the media driver required by the computer was missing, and the installation could not continue. What to do?

What should I do if the UEFI installation of Win8 prompts that the required media driver is missing?

The prompt information is as follows:

Load driver

A media driver required by your computer is missing. This may be a DVD, USB flash drive, or hard drive. If you have a CD, DVD or USB drive containing the driver, please insert it now.

Note: If the Windows installation media is in a DVD drive or USB flash drive, you can safely remove it during this step.

Prior to this, this netizen had set the BIOS to UEFI boot, and used the diskpart command to create a GPT partition. After clicking Next, a message appeared that Win8.1 could not be installed, as shown in the above picture.

Solution

The first step is to confirm that the USB flash drive is in FAT32 format (this is a drawback of GPT partition, which only supports FAT32 format).

The second step is to re-enter the USB PE (Win7 or above), unzip the image file (must be the MSDN version system image), and copy the Boot, efi, sources folders, as well as the bootmgr and bootmgr.efi files to C drive root directory.

Step 3: Restart the computer and the computer will automatically run the installation program.

The above is the solution to this problem. Of course, if you don’t want to be so troublesome, you can try installing Win8 in a virtual machine. For operation steps, refer to "How to Setup VMware Installation of Win8 System".
