The separation is determined by the file's packaging format, such as AVI, MKV, WMV, TS, TP. TS, TP, and WMV are HD encapsulation formats, and the corresponding video encoding is (H264/MPEG2/WMV-HD). AVI, and MKV are the encapsulation formats of most HDres, and the corresponding video encoding is (H264, Xvid).

The efficiency of the splitter itself is simply reflected in the drag and drop speed. It has issues with its cooperation with the video and audio decoder, but its working effect has nothing to do with the normal/extreme speed mode, overlay/VMR renderer. So don't consider the mode and renderer when choosing a splitter.

Let’s talk about AVI and MKV first. First make sure that Haali is not placed in the custom filter manager. In this way, the AVI and MKV splitters are each determined by only two small hooks and achieve optimal results. AVI and MKV are completely unaffected by "Preferred, 00800000, Forced Use, Set as Source Filter" in the custom filter manager, nor is it possible to use Nero, Elecard or PDVD7 splitters.

The AVI splitter is determined by "Filter Control" and "Source Filter". As long as "Connect to a certain type of file" is turned on in the "Source Filter" "Other" tab, KMP will definitely use Haali to separate this type of file. Setting Haali as the source filter in the Custom Filter Manager is equivalent to enabling the five "Connect to... file" options.

Suggestion: Use the KMP internal source filter (KMPAVISourceFilter) among the four options of the General tab, and turn on the "Open files in the background" option. This splitter drag and drop speed is very fast, and the delay is less than human reaction time. It is recommended to use GabestAVISplitter to separate the damaged AVI file sdxy.

Haali's drag and drop is slower than KMPAVISourceFilter. In addition, if it is H264 encoding, PowerDVD's H264 decoder will be automatically called (if installed). The combination of AVI+Haali+Cyberlink is not good and will cause color spots, ripples, incoherent pictures, etc.

If you use Haali as the AVI splitter, you must force the use of CoreAVC in the custom filter manager. At this time, it is recommended that the General tab is also set to KMPAVISourceFilter. In this way, if there is a problem with Haali, just turn off "Connect AVI with Haali" and easily switch to using SourceFilter. Enter the "Filter Control" "Separator" general tab. The three options of "Matroska Separator" are GabestMKV Separator (GabestMatroskaSource), KMP Internal MKV Separator (KMPMKVreader), and the system default (after installing Haali, the system The default is Haali).

In addition, if you turn on "Connect MKV with Haali splitter" in the "Filter Control" "Source Filter" "Other" tab, the settings in the General tab will be ignored and Haali will be used to split MKV.

All three splitters are fast to drag and drop, slightly slower than human reaction speed, and have good multi-track support.

KMPlayer*.WMV (also known as ASF):

Select it in the Windows Media tab of "Source Filter". Once selected here, no other system settings will change the splitter used.

"Auto Select" is recommended.

For MPEG2, GabestMpeg2Splitter can be used in most cases. Subtitle calibration is based on it, and only Gabest supports DTS audio tracks in TS.

It is best to set it in "Mpeg2(TS) Splitter" in the General tab of "Splitter". It is very reliable and has immediate results. When "Set as Source Filter" takes effect, it is equivalent to "Forcing connections to various types of files".

If Elecard or Moonlight is installed, the "system default" among the multiple splitters here is Elecard or Moonlight.

It is recommended to use this style without adding any splitters in the custom filter manager.

Another setting style is to use the force function in the custom filter manager. After each splitter is "forced", it will have higher priority than the settings in the General tab. If only one is "mandatory", KMP will definitely select it. If there are multiple "forced use" turned on, they will compete for KMP's favor based on priority value and position. Generally, the first "mandatory" separator is the one ultimately used, but Elecard may also be used first because it is the "system default". Don’t forget the big premise here: there is no source filter to “set as source filter” here. This style works well once you’re used to it.
