1. Keep the two structures to be connected close together and the two atoms to be connected almost overlap;

2. Use the selection tool to select the two atoms to be connected;

Note: When connecting two differently colored bond or atom symbols, the color of the frontmost structure becomes the color of the final structure; when connecting two signed atoms, the frontmost atom symbol becomes the atom symbol of the final structure.

3. Movement of structures in ChemDraw: general movement operations

1. Use the selection tool to move the ChemDraw structure.

3. Move the selected structure significantly

After selecting the ChemDraw structure to be moved with the selection tool, use Alt+keyboard arrow keys to move the selected structure. Each time you press it, the selected structure moves 10 points (0.35cm) in the direction of the arrow.

4. Moving structures in ChemDraw: using the clipboard to move ChemDraw structures

After using the selection tool to select the ChemDraw structure to be copied, select the Cut command in the Edit menu, and then select the Paste command to move the copy in the clipboard to another location in the same document, or to another ChemDraw document or other type of document.
