Sometimes when we use ChemDraw to draw structural formulas, we need to connect a certain part of the drawing to another part or move a certain part of the graph to another position. At this time, what should we do to achieve the goal? This article will work with you share.

1. Connection method of chemical structure 1: connecting by bond

1. Keep the two structures to be connected close together and the two bonds to be connected almost overlap;

2. Use the selection tool to select the two keys to be connected;

3. Select the Join command from the Object menu. As shown in Figure 1

Figure 1

Note: The two chemical structures to be connected must be close enough, otherwise the Join command will not be active. The "tolerance" between structures can be changed in the Preference dialog box in the File menu (the value in the red circle) as shown in Figure 2.

2. Connection method of chemical structure 2: Connect with atoms

1. Keep the two structures to be connected close together and the two atoms to be connected almost overlap;

2. Use the selection tool to select the two atoms to be connected;

3. Select the Join command from the Object menu. As shown in Figure 3

Note: When connecting two differently colored bond or atom symbols, the color of the frontmost structure becomes the color of the final structure; when connecting two signed atoms, the frontmost atom symbol becomes the atom symbol of the final structure.

3. Movement of structures in ChemDraw: general movement operations

1. Use the selection tool to move the ChemDraw structure.

After selecting the ChemDraw structure to be moved with the selection tool, click the mouse to select the structure, and then move the structure to the desired position by dragging the mouse. As shown in Figure 4

2. Move the selected structure in a small amount

After selecting the ChemDraw structure to be moved with the selection tool, use the keyboard arrow keys to move the selected structure. Each time you press it, the selected structure moves 1 point (0.035cm) in the direction of the arrow.

Description: This small movement is often used to align structures.

3. Move the selected structure significantly

After selecting the ChemDraw structure to be moved with the selection tool, use Alt+keyboard arrow keys to move the selected structure. Each time you press it, the selected structure moves 10 points (0.35cm) in the direction of the arrow.

4. Moving structures in ChemDraw: using the clipboard to move ChemDraw structures

After using the selection tool to select the ChemDraw structure to be copied, select the Cut command in the Edit menu, and then select the Paste command to move the copy in the clipboard to another location in the same document, or to another ChemDraw document or other type of document. As shown in Figure 5

5. Movement of structures in ChemDraw: moving atoms

In the first two cases, the structure is moved as a whole, and the atoms on the moved structure are local moves, so when moving atoms, you need to use the selection tool to make local selections. Use the selection tool to select atoms and connected bonds. Click and drag the mouse. The atoms will be moved and the bonds connected to the atoms will be stretched at the same time. As shown in Figure 6

Summary: The above is the content of connecting the ChemDraw structure and moving the ChemDraw structure. I hope you can try it yourself. More software tutorials are hereHuajun Software Park Information Tutorial Center! ! !
